A student of legendary instructors such as Sanford Meisner and Lee Strasberg, Mel Williams combines various methods to create his own style of acting and teaching. Along with coaching marquee names such as Queen Latifah and Common, Mel readies aspiring thespians for stage and screen during courses at The New York Acting Academy.
In intimately sized classes, Mel focuses on tenants of the craft such as improvisation, speech and diction, and character development. Besides working on acting itself, students pose for headshots, improve their résumés, learn the basics of auditioning, and receive info on auditions for upcoming projects. The academy even hosts weekly seminars from industry professionals such as producers and directors, who offer tips for landing agents and work.
