I went last Thursday. The Bartender told me that the owner said the groupon was not being accepted that night. (the groupon does not specify any dates it cannot be used). Then I was told they accept it everyday except Thursday. I asked to speak to the manager. He said well I needed a reservation. I informed him that I called several weeks ago to make one and i was told I did not need one (I also had the open bar 2 hours groupon, so I do not know what you need a reservation for). He ended up granting it to us. When I asked if there was any exceptions about what order he said he did not know. Then said only bottom shelf liquor. Overall the place is nice.

Not a great place to hang out. The food and drinks were nothing to talk about. Slow service.

I have no plans on returning to The Stellan. I left here feeling disappointed with this establishment and its management. Before ordering, I made it clear that I had a Groupon (which included 3 dishes and 2 drinks), and the waiter said it was fine and instructed me to order anything from the menu. When I ordered my drinks from the drink menu, I was told that mysteriously NONE of the 12 drinks listed on the menu were available that night (though it did not specify any limitations ANYWHERE on the Groupon), but they had a full bar that I could order from. I found that to be odd since all of the drinks on the menu were made from the same alcohol available at the bar, but I obliged and ordered the drinks from the bar. Later I asked to order an additional two drinks, which I knew I would have to pay for.The waiter had informed me that it was Ladies Night and drinks were buy one, get one half off, so when he asked if we wanted another round of the same drinks, I said fine. To my surprise, when I got the bill they charged me for 2 full price premium drinks (I was told after drinking that the BOGO did not apply to my drinks, which I should have been told BEFORE ordering the second round). In addition to that, a 20% gratuity was already added to the handwritten check. I asked the waiter if this is standard for a party of only 2 people, and he said no but that his manager said they had to do it because I used a Groupon and that's the only way they make money. He also said the tip was added because "otherwise we would not get paid." I have used Groupon at many restaurants, and not one has ever added the gratuity for me. I take offense to that assumption that I would not have tipped, or tipped the amount they iwould have liked, because I am quite capable of calculating 20% of the undiscounted bill myself; I do not need someone to add it in for me if that is not the standard practice for everyone. In the end, The Stellan left me with a sour taste in my mouth as I felt like there were a few bait and switches thrown in. I will pass on visiting that establishment again.

From Our Editors

Upon entering The Stellan, guests are met by the bar area and its 10 specialty drinks, all concocted by The Stellan’s own mixologist. Based around interesting flavor pairings, each drink blossoms into a complex dance of tastes, like the Green Harvest, which floats concord grapes on a chilled sea of hibiscus tea, tequila, and green chartreuse. The spirited beverages augment a menu of New American cuisine, which is mostly comprised of a mash-up of Asian and Italian dishes, ranging from gourmet pizzas and mac ‘n’ cheese with truffles to pot stickers, seared tunu, and Wagyu steak burgers. The two styles of cuisine intersect in the italian eggroll, which wraps bits of sweet italian sausage, peppers, and mozzarella in a flaky roll.

The majority of guests eat and drink on The Stellan’s main floor, which has high ceilings and ample wall space for the overhead projectors’ 12’x12’ images. Up a spiral staircase, however, a lounge area with leather couches and its own bar entertains guests during private events.
