About this Business
From Our Editors
Jill and Mike Vassallo wanted to start their own European-style wine bar, and they stumbled upon the perfect space: an old brick building on a tree-lined block of Murray Hill. Today, the once-vacant building has a distinctly European atmosphere and only a handful of imported French ghosts. Tall paneled windows overlook the leafy streets in the dining room, which is spacious and dimly lit. As the executive chef, Mike puts together seasonal, Italian-influenced menus. His dishes range from tapas and charcuterie platters to pizzas, pastas, and steaks. To complement these plates, the bar offers an international wine list featuring 20 wines by the glass, as well as nearly 200 bottles—many of which are visible behind the polished wood bar.
