Though Dr. Charles V. Nicolai specializes in relieving head, neck, and back pain, ultimately he wants to make it so his patients never need corrective treatment in the first place. That's why his office, Wall Street Chiropractic and Wellness, offers so many preventative care services, including massage therapy, posture screenings, and even nutritional counseling.

Still, many clients require corrective treatment, and that's where Dr. Nicolai's chiropractic care comes in. Introductory sessions with the doctor begin with a consultation and examination, during which he gets to know your health history and tests your reflexes and flexibility. After that he draws up a report of his findings, including his recommendations for how your treatment should move forward. At the end of the session, the doctor will perform your first treatment, which might consist of a spinal adjustment, a physical-therapy exercise, or a soft-tissue massage. The final step is for Dr. Nicolai to recommend a wellness program for maintaining your health: instructions for applying ice or heat, stretches to try, and activities to avoid, such as lifting heavy objects or rowing a leaky dinghy back to Port Huron.
