I try to go to Catalina once a year. Always a good time! Staff is friendly on the boat. They’re punctual so do not be late! Come early because line gets very long if you want to get good seats. They’re first come first serve. Bathrooms inside are clean. During covid, they’re operating at half capacity so 300 people per boat. Definitely recommend!

Due to covid, many shops were not open, but the boat ride trip to Catalina was fun and enjoyable. We were able to see dolphins which was the highlight of the trip.

My advice, arrive early. You will get better seat when aboard. We arrive "on time" and had to wait in a very very long line to get on but it wasnt too bad. Once on the only seats available we're upper open deck, lucky for us it was not too cold. The boat only goes about 35 mph so the wind i'snt too bad. Same thing when going back on home. Overall the boat ride was nice. will be buying again.

We were pleased with the crew members, specially Ms. Robin. Leave on time in both ways👍 Clean in all areas. Recommend Catalina Flyer to friends and relatives. We’ll visit Catalina Island in 2020 summer ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Even on a rainy, windy, just outright cold day, it was loads of fun. The boats view of Newport is great, and though the snack bar is cash only, it’s cool to have it. Oddly enough, no real lack of cell service expect for a bit in the middle.

My 85 years old M❤️M and I visited Catalina Island 4th times in 10 years as of November 24, 2019. My oldest sister and her husband were their first time to tag along with us. We met Robin, employee of The Catalina Flyer who was courteous, informative and helpful to customers. We booked Catalina Safari Tours with an informative driver, courtesy and offered my mother to sit in his cabin.

From Our Editors

Catalina Island may reside a mere 75 minutes from Newport Beach, but that's no reason why visitors shouldn't travel there in style. The Catalina Flyer allows them to do just that, accommodating as many as 600 passengers who spend their speedy journey relaxing on the sun decks, enjoying a drink in one of two full-service cocktail lounges, or gazing out the viewing windows and watching for migrating schools of sushi rice.

After disembarking in Avalon, visitors are encouraged to take advantage of Catalina Island's many shopping, dining, and recreational opportunities, which include everything from golf, ziplines, undersea tours, and even buffalo watching. Hotel accommodations facilitate overnight stays, ensuring that weekenders have ample time to enjoy the island before taking the afternoon voyage back to the mainland.
