About The Medieval Rodeo

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

Queen of Hearts Therapeutic Riding Center, Inc. offers services to children and adults with mental and physical disabilities including and not limited to autism, PTSD, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and brain injuries.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

Robin Kilcoyne, founder and Executive Director, began teaching therapeutic riding in 1998 and gained PATH Certification in 2000. She honorably retired as a Sergeant Major in August 2011 and continues to work with military veterans through Queen of Hearts’ Equine Services for Heroes programs. The horse’s movement also provides the rider with strong sensory input in the areas of the brain that register touch and motion stimulation, making it an excellent therapy. Riding is also good for the cardiovascular system and provides the rider with aerobic exercise.

What do you love most about your job?

The big smiles, happy exclamations, and love for the horses are always the best part of the day!
