The atmosphere was lovely. However, the food was terrible, and the service outrageously slow. We were one of only two couples there at lunchtime, and it took 3 hours!!! to slog through an awful " high tea". Will be surprised if they stay in business.

Waitress didn't appear to be very knowledgable about the food and beverage selections.

Do not have a menu for the speakeasy online showing one thing, and when we arrive have another. Never serve warm, tough to eat chicken! The cook being sent home sick is not acceptable as a reason for customers getting their food late and it's not good! We were totally disappointed! It is also not a good idea to have the door open for flies to circle the dinner tables while customers are eating. If your altered menu says 4 pieces of chicken, the people in the kitchen need to learn to count and plate 4 pieces of chicken preferably one of each part that is hot, juicy, and fully cooked.

Need music during lunch - nothing was playing in th background - which seemed odd to me. We had two waitress. One was very good. The other seemed in a hurry even though the place was not busy. She seemed to be ready to get off work.

Perhaps give the waitress a notepad that she could write the courses for each table on and check them off as they receive them??? Seems easy enough to do...every table was getting the same thing so it shouldn't have been that hard. Also would recommend more than three selections in tea be made available to guests. This tea room has the potential to be really good...the food was excellent. But the wait staff lacked organization and professionalism, and without the groupon the cost would be too high to justify putting up with the disorganization. It seems that the owner was back in the kitchen and unaware of what was going on up front. Would recommend they have some training for the wait staff and also ensure that the wait staff speak enough English to be able to communicate with the guests.

DJ was so attentive and did a wonderful job serving. The food was good, the tea choices were plentiful, preparation was flawless and service superb. We will definitely be back. Our multi-generational tea experience was exactly what we had hoped and more.

From Our Editors

Perhaps it’s the dining room’s glittering chandeliers that make diners feel as though they’ve stepped back in time, or maybe it’s the silver tea sets displayed atop baroque-style tables that bring to mind a bygone era. Though it’s difficult to single out the one element of First Ladies Tea Parlor that transports diners to the past, it’s evident that owner KJ Jordan has realized her vision. KJ’s passion for all things old-timey manifests itself in the parlor’s varied schedule of events, from historic fashion shows and presentations by authors and historical interpreters to speakeasy dinners that keep the spirit of the 1920s alive via live jazz and free admission for ghosts. Away from the sun-dappled dining room, chef Gabby Bauman and her culinary crew bustle about the kitchen whipping up light lunches featuring entrees named after first ladies, including the Lady Dolley sandwich filled with roasted turkey and avocado and the Lady Betty salad dappled with salmon fillet and apricot-ginger dressing.
