It's a lovely boutique yoga studio, with warm and inviting staff. Our teacher Rachel Rozen was amazing at reading the vibe of the participants are really catering the practice to our energy level and interests.

Only a decade ago, Rachel Rozen was suffering from anxiety and frequent panic attacks. When she discovered yoga, however, she found it helped ground both her mind and body. Before long, she was practicing yoga daily. As her commitment grew, she went on to get her yoga-teacher certification, and in 2015, Rachel opened her own studio, The Yoga Root - North Vancouver.

Rachel founded the community-minded North Vancouver studio because she believes that yoga helps those of all backgrounds connect not only with their true selves, but with others as well. That being said, she knows that different approaches work for different people, which is why The Yoga Root - North Vancouver's schedule features a wide variety of classes and teachers. Read on to learn about a few.

  • Mom & Baby Yoga: New moms and their babies are invited to participate in this gentle yoga class together. Movements aim to strengthen muscles while releasing tension in the shoulders, neck, lower back, and hips.
  • Sacred Gong Bath Meditation: With the help of sound healing, this class helps students unwind. After a 10-minute yoga warmup, pupils lie down as the sacred gong's therapeutic sound vibrations lull them into a deep state of relaxation.
  • Yoga for Runners: Designed to improve runners' flexibility and focus, this 60-minute all-levels class features a collection of poses that target the most used and injury-prone areas of runners' bodies. Although many take the class after their runs as a cool down, it's also beneficial on its own for cross-training and injury prevention.
