Rumbo Al Sur: A User’s Guide
- Starter: chicharrones de pollo—hunks of crispy chicken with a pungent aji amarilla sauce
- Entree: baby back ribs with a tamarind guava glaze and jicama slaw
- Vegetarian: tacos with sauteed zucchini, carrot, and squash with goat cheese crema

What to Drink Though the margaritas are the popular choice here, the unique cocktails, such as the Donkey Show—a mixture of tequila, bourbon, passion fruit, hibiscus bitters, and Squirt—are also worth a shot.
Where to Sit: If you’re on a romantic date, ask to be at one of the small and intimate alcove tables. Otherwise, head to the bar for a more casual experience, or, if you’re with a large group, snag one of the community tables that seat up to 18.
When to Go: Taco Tuesday. Though every night is considered taco night here, Tuesdays feature discounts on glasses and pitchers of margaritas and sangria.
If You Can’t Make It: Visit Rumbo Al Sur’s sister restaurant À Côté (5478 College Ave.) in Rockridge, known for its renowned spread of Mediterranean small plates.
