Deep in the old-growth forests near Revelstoke, there's a place where humans can walk more than 30 feet above the ground, gliding and leaping through the trees like method actors playing squirrels in a summer blockbuster. That place is SkyTrek Adventure Park, a wilderness playground that's home to a range of pulse-pounding attractions.
The aforementioned high-ropes course is designed to challenge visitors of all ages while being easy on the forest—its platforms are secured to the trees using environmentally friendly building techniques. Suspension bridges, swathes of netting, speedy zip lines, and sliding aerial skateboards present plenty of exciting ways to navigate the forest canopy. Meanwhile, a 12-meter Adventure Tower gets adrenaline flowing with features such as an interactive climbing wall populated by birds and small mammals and a sky swing that arcs 15 meters above the ground. A low ropes course, just 10 feet off the ground at its highest, and a colourful jungle gym provide pint-sized thrills for the younger set. Enthusiastic team members trained by ACMG or IFMGA mountain guides walk visitors through every area of the park, and even help them into their safety gear.
