I will not go back. It was overpriced and too quiet there.

I had purchased a groupon deal for four people. I phoned when i made my reservation, I told the hostess that there would be only three people not four. I was told by the hostess that was ok, that the value would remain the same. When the bill arrived it was less that the value of the coupon, but we were charged the difference between the $80 i pd for the coupon and the total bill (Value $164). The prices for the entrees and what was on the bill was different. The portions were significantly smaller than others without coupons. For a restaurant that is hurting for customer, they surely don't know how to get them to come back again.

You need a major overhaul of your decor and menu in order to improve your business.

I do sincerely hope your business picks up. The food and service were excellent. I would suggest that you offer some French wines that are more affordable to the average diner. Although there were some affordable California wines on the menue, I can drink California wines in any restaurant. Very few restaurants offer French wines so I would prefer a French wine in a French restaurant but yours were too pricey.

the cook needs to learn how to make onion soup - the onions were not caramelized, and no hint of beef broth - since this is a French restaurant important to have the real French onion soup

We were a little skeptical after reading some negative reviews on yelp. However, we had a nice experience. The waiter explained the groupon deal to us and made it clear that some of the dishes on the menu had an extra charge. The meal was very good. The soup (some have complained that it was too watery) although not really creamy was still good. We ordered the filet mignon w/ brie and the nightly special of osso bucco ($8 extra) and it was very good. The dessert was a chocolate mousse cake which was also delicious. The waiters were courteous and helpful and we enjoyed the live piano background. Yes, as some reviewers commented the decor may be a bit outdated, but we think it added the charm! We would recommend purchasing the groupon for this restaurant.

From Our Editors

La Rive Gauche takes its name from the French word for the Seine River’s left bank, a source of inspiration for the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso. The restaurant’s menu embraces the spirit of this iconic riverside area, spotlighting the rich flavors of gourmet French cuisine.

The Zagat-rated venue serves lobster bisque, venison loin drenched in raspberry sauce, sautéed swordfish, and other French favorites. As with any French restaurants, dessert is a must, with decadent delights such as crêpes suzette and chocolate soufflés.
