The owner/host of the restaurant was extremely rude and made me feel like I was using food stamps, instead of a Groupon certificate, to purchase our dinner. When I bought the Groupons, I called and they said they would be good at lunch or dinner, but when I used the one certificate, they only had dinner available. I called ahead to make a reservation as the Groupon required. When I called the first few times, it seemed they were overbooked with Groupon deals and offered me real early times to eat. I finally settled on a 5:30pm dinner and mentioned we had an engagement right after it. I asked if it was possible to get an earlier dinner time or couple hour later dinner slot. The rude host grumbled and told me no, his wait staff started at 5:30pm. We arrived at the establishment at 5:17 and the host told me that I had missed my reservation, it was for 5:00pm. I reminded him that he had said he did not have waitstaff until 5:30pm. He told me, we could still eat, but needed to be done by 6:30, because he had other reservations. I looked around the restaurant and saw that most of the tables were open, with 2 tables eating and many staff serving the patrons. I told him, that would be fine, since we needed to be somewhere by 6:30pm and that we were having to go late to accommodate eating there on that night which was one of the few he had open for dinner. He sat us, but seemed to be glaring over at us and another table and making comments to another employee. Then I noticed the other table also had a Groupon. We decided not to order any sides, soup, salad or extras, so we could get the meal over in the time slot he had given us. Keep in mind that we were celebrating our son's birthday, but decided we'd take him somewhere else for dessert later. The whole dining experience was ruined by this guy who made us feel totally unwelcome in the restaurant. The little gal refilling the water and drinks was very nice and the waiter was good, but slow for having 2 tables. We finally got our food at 6:17pm, an hour later, gobbled it down quick and asked for a bill at 6:25pm. The dinner for 4 came to almost $100, even after our groupon discount, so we weren't just eating the cheap stuff. The food was good, but not worth the high price tag. We finally got our bill settled at 6:40pm , tipping the staff at 25 percent of the original bill, and the host glared at us for the last 10 minutes we were sitting there. I looked around the room, but noticed that over half of the tables were still empty, so I wasn't sure why he seemed so unhappy with us. When we left, I apologized for running over the hour slot he gave us to eat. I told him that I would have preferred to eat another date, but he seemed to be full on the other days. I asked him about the possibility of using the other Groupon after the expiration date and he said he would only honor the $20 we paid Groupon and not give a discount. I explained that having been in the hospital with a brother with brain surgery and a sister in law with stage 4 colon cancer had limited my weekday use of the coupons. He said, rudely, yeah, well we have been really busy too since this groupon deal came out! He was not kind, did not offer to work with us, didn't apologize for the shortened meal time, difficulty in scheduling or for making us late to our appointment due to inefficient kitchen staff or whatever the hold up was for the first hour we were there. He also didn't thank us for our patronage or invite us back. We have many restaurants that love us and know we often tip between 25 and 60% if the service is great, so we have no problem being welcomed elsewhere. I will NEVER go back to Servino's. They don't understand that customers are what keep them around and programs like Groupon are what brings in new customers. We will not be using the 2nd coupon we purchased for Servinos. This owner needs a wake up call.
