We tried to go to this restaurant twice before going last night. The first time, they closed early & the second time they weren't open at the scheduled time because the chef wasn't there. We were not left with a good impression. We weren't expecting much when we went but our waitress Suney provided us with great service! There was somebody celebrating a birthday & they dimmed the lights & the employees came out with sparklers & danced to the music gangnam style. We thought that was very cute & my kids enjoyed it.

Sat night, eight oclock, "sushi area sold out"? Not enough people working there. For the next hour and fifteen minutes, any table that finished eating was left full of plates until we left. Shame because the food cooked on the grills was actually good. Our cook did not appear to be too sure of himself.

The food was good but service was terrible. In the 2 hours we were there 5 tables sat dirty the entire time, 2 different parties walked out without being acknowledged. There is a bar type area without a bartender and we had to go find someone to serve us a beverage while we waited.

From Our Editors

Beneath the colorful toques on their heads, hibachi chefs flip and sauté meat and vegetables on their tabletop grills, smiling as they conjure the occasional bursts of flame during lively cooking routines. That’s just one scene at SooWoo Japanese Steakhouse—across the restaurant, sushi chefs slice ribbons of fish and vegetables and roll them into California and spicy tuna rolls. Basketball fans can celebrate the city’s 2012 NBA championship with the specialty Miami Heat roll, which includes slices of shrimp tempura, crab, and cream cheese. SooWoo also whips up Korean dishes, such as bulgogi and pork belly.
