From Our Editors
Main Street Music offers a highly concentrated music shopping experience inside a small storefront, stocking new and used LPs and CDs, along with a handful of used DVDs and 33s. This is the kind of place where a poster for the latest Fleet Foxes release hangs near original display items from the Beatles’ Help! album, and the workers’ down-to-earth approach is exemplified by staff recommendations titled “Stuff that we think don’t suck.” Most used CDs can be gotten for $6 or $7, and a section of used LPs will put you back $4 for one or three for $10. Special live in-store performances get the place packed to the rafters, and audience members might be treated to free pizza for the occasion.
