Georganne Bryant is a woman with a sense of humor. Her eclectic clothing and accessories boutique, Frances, sits just next to an old fashioned candy store named Smeeks on Camelback Road. That sweets shop is owned by – who else – Bryant herself, making the duel entrepreneur a bit of a local staple in this part of Phoenix. It helps, of course, that her shop is considered one of the best boutiques in the city, where apparel, jewelry and homemade items mix in a funky swirl of kitsch and color. Named as a tribute to Bryant’s grandmother, the space is part vintage shop part second-hand retailer, thanks to a large supply of items from local and national designers. Set in a big, white brick and wood rafter warehouse-style space, the feel is like a general store gone sophisticated, displaying sparkly faux gem-encrusted slippers, lace shoes, scarves and purses.
