Saying that Sir Veza's chef Carlotta Flores knows what she's doing is a bit of an understatement. The Flores family matriarch also rules the roost at El Charro Cafe, a 93-year-old haunt that's been named one of America's most legendary restaurants by Gourmet magazine. She brings decades of expertise to Sir Veza's, her son Raymon's burgeoning brand.
Raymon's got more than 20 years in the industry himself, so he was primed to create a place that stands out from dime-a-dozen brewhouses. The beer list includes quirky craft pours from across the country, from New York's Coney Island Hard Root Beer to Arizona's own Four Peaks Peach Ale. The ample selection of Mexican beers and tequilas and bounty of flat-screen TVs makes Sir Veza's a fitting place to settle in for a game. When hunger strikes, Carlotta's Mexican-American menu stands at the ready, showing off tamale-stuffed chicken breast with as much zeal as it does an Old West barbecue burger with prickly-pear sauce and housemade onion strings plucked from an onion sweater. Guests can also enjoy happy hour specials and catch their favorite sports team on flat-screen TVs as Sir Veza's features NFL Sunday Ticket and the Pac-12 network channels.
