For "old" (78, 79) folks like us, just the main entree is almost too much food. Next time, we'll do like the not quite so old ladies next to us did: Share the main course and add a salad at the beginning - still no room for dessert. Either way, the food was excellent!

Can be a little noisy and slightly drafty on cold days, but the food and service are great.

Greeter could be a little more friendly, but the food made up for it.

call for reservations or you may have to sit at the bar (which was not unpleasant) but waitstaff did not present the specials etc, as at a regular table. Food was good

A terrific dining experience - food was great and service was friendly. Had a bottle of Greek Syrah that went well with the mild spices in our dishes. Would definitely go there again.

Restaurant too dark, you need to increase the lighting so people can see to read the menu. I ordered the clams sauteed in ouzo and butter which was supposed to be sauteed with tomatoes, capers, yellow squash, and zucchini. There were no zucchini or Yellow squash to be seen, so the dish was basically a bowl of steamer clams in broth which could have used a little salt. I don't know if they were out of the vegetables or if the cook just didn't know how to prepare the dish. The server did tell us that they only had limited amounts of the specials left, (rabbit and lamb), even though we were there within an hour of opening so maybe the kitchen was out of items in general.

Food was tasty but portions were very small and priced too high. Restaurant was so dark we could hardly read the menu or see our food. My entree was missing major components. Service was good.

From Our Editors

Eleni Touhouliotis came to America from the island of Crete and brought with her a Greek cookbook written by her cousin. She arrived in 1974 and started working in cafes, putting aside the money she earned in hopes of someday starting her own restaurant. She finally succeeded in 2006, when she opened the doors to Eleni's Estiatoro and introduced the world to her family recipes. Eleni received an enthusiastic response and opened a second location—Eleni's Philoxenia—a mere 18 months later.

Both of Eleni's eateries feature virtually the same menu, which combines fresh vegetables, first-press olive oil from Crete, and naturally raised, hormone-free meats into classic Greek dishes.
