There once was a food cart called Asian Station Café that roamed the streets of Portland. The owners eventually outgrew their training wheels and opted to open Showcase Foods with a full-fledged storefront. But with the change in venue, the mission remained the same: to carve out a niche in local food culture by dishing up unique pan-Asian dishes, snacks, and specialty desserts such as mango tapioca pudding and Hong Kong-style french toast sundaes from a menu that is concise by design. The carefully curated collection still resonates with a street-food vibe—Filipino-style lumpia spring rolls, for instance, fill bellies with beef and veggies, while savory crepes pack in plenty of egg, bean sauce, cilantro, and onions.
