So awesome! Kari is a wonderful instructor, and the Aerial Yoga class was such a rad experience. It was completely different than any other yoga class, and I highly recommend checking it out!

Great space to move the body. Friendly people to be with. Happy to see this happening in the city. Everyone needs movement and inspiration, especially children who are too likely to get snagged by technological distractions. Thanks Circus Project!

It seems that the calendar of the drop-in classes is only updated a week in advance so it can be hard to plan around. Instructors are mostly very kind, but can be hit-or-miss. Drop-in classes included a lot of regulars, making it a bit intimidating. One class didn't include any stretching prior to conditioning, which could lead to serious injury. Would recommend a handful of classes but not all.

Jen is a great instructor and allowed each to go on our own pace. As a beginner this is so important to not feel pressured. Jen is very inviting and welcoming. Love her hospitality throughout the class. She was subbing for Karen. Jen hope to see you around again! :)

So nice! I waited until the last minute to book my first class but it was full, so it was technically past the expiration date. They were kind enough to work with me, and allow me to do the entire series. The space has beautiful light and just feels lovely, a right mix of welcoming and functional. I can't wait to explore some of their other offerings!

From Our Editors

At The Circus Project, classes cover everything from cardio workouts to developing circus skills. In aerial yoga and fitness classes, students use acrobatic instruments to condition their minds and bodies in new ways, much like doing pushups on a flying carpet. Those tools are put to a more dedicated use in adult and kids' aerial classes, in which students hone the skills needed for live performance. Such techniques must be mastered if students are ever to join The Circus Project company, which performs new works in Portland and beyond.

Founded by Jenn Cohen, who lends more than 20 years' experience as a circus teacher and performer to her role as artistic director, The Circus Project empowers homeless and at-risk youth and young adults with the transformative power of circus performance. Beyond that enduring mission, the nonprofit company's current efforts include classes for children and adults of all experience levels and walks of life—including a separate track for aspiring professional performers.
