La Veta Inn is not only inspired by its Southwestern setting, but also the people that inhabit the funky art town where it’s settled. To show pride in its creative surroundings, the hotel tapped local artists to decorate the boutique hotel’s 18 rooms. While guests enjoy the art in their temporary abodes, they can also take advantage of amenities that include down comforters, Turkish towels, and organic soaps and shampoos. Local artwork also hangs from the teal and exposed-brick walls of the inn's restaurant, where Chef Scot Mangold crafts lunch and dinner menus that showcase seasonal ingredients in Southwestern-inspired dishes. Up to 60 diners can cozy up in the dining room, which also boasts a vintage Western bar, or relax on the outdoor patio with a crackling fireplace and stylish wrought-iron furnishings. La Veta also offers an abundance of outdoor adventures, which invite guests to hike Cuchara Valley, gaze at the scenic views along the Highway of Legend, or play golf at Grandote Peaks Golf Club. After a day in pursuit of diversion, guests can return to the inn to unwind with a game of shuffleboard at the coffee shop or a night spent on the dance floor, where they can show off their best interpretive-dance routines set to monologues from Taxi Driver.
