This restaurant is very cozy and romantically lit. The food is tasty with too many items to tempt people off of their diets. The noise level is pretty high and difficult for people wearing hearing aids. My husband had the mushroom soup, truffle fries (of which I stole quite a few), and calamari; and I had the Brussel sprouts. The fries are the most evil. The oysters were not overcooked and plentiful. The mushroom sou had a very earthy flavor balanced with a little sherry. The sprouts were a mixture of barely cooked and well toasted. They actually did not taste at all burned and were good.

For the cost of the food at regular price I would have expected a melt in your mouth steak. I had to send it back 2 times just to get it cooked properly. I was originally going to get the pork chops but the people beside us were complaining that they were not cooked properly either. My husband did enjoy the hamburger though.

Ask to be seated in Danny's section; he will take good care of you, especially if you are a first-time visitor. I highly recommend the calamari; the dipping sauce is excellent.

From Our Editors

At Midtown Grille, bowl-shaped chandeliers cast a warm glow over the dining room dressed in crisp white linens with cream walls. The elegant environs compete with equally elegantly plated seafood and locally snagged seasonal veggies. The kitchen enhances his succulent cuts of swordfish and short ribs with house-made pastas and sophisticated flourishes such as blue-cheese crema, pinot-soaked raisins, or miniature monocles that can be enjoyed in the dining room or on the restaurant's patio, weather permitting.
