Be prepared for slow greens and uncut ruff.

if you can get the groupon deal it's totally worth it. It's an old course that could be kept up a little better, but you can't beat it for the price. I actually love the course lay out. Just looks like it could be mowed a little more often. Maybe I caught them on an off day.

The greens are very slow, but very green and in decent shape when golfers remember to fix their ball marks. The cart paths are very rough and bumpy. But I do enjoy the course. It's a typical public course. There is not much of a clubhouse or choice of foods and they WILL not give you ice for some reason. Guess when you work inside the clubhouse you forget it's 95degrees outside!

I enjoyed playing RGA. Am glad I rode in a golf cart. This was my first time at RGA and found ample challenge. Greens in very good shape. Cart paths need help. Wish you had a senior day each weeK.

Didn't realize RGA now required tee times. Very nice gentleman in the pro shop fit us in regardless. Snack bar lady was friendly and cheery. It's the people who work at RGA that make it a cut above the rest.

From Our Editors

As one of the oldest courses in the Raleigh area, Raleigh Golf Association’s 18-hole course retains the same expanse of lush greenery as its 1929 prototype while benefiting from a number of refinements made during a 1998 renovation overseen by David Postlethwaite. Fairways arch over emerald waves of grass, connecting to form a 6,088-yard course dotted with mature trees and waterways. The club also encompasses a nine-hole course that is occasionally open to the public and always open to Arnold Palmer doppelgängers. A pro shop stocked with the latest golf gear and accessories beckons to golfers in need of new equipment.

Course at a Glance:

  • 18-hole, 6,088-yard course

  • Course rating of 68.8 from the farthest tees

  • Slope rating of 123 from the farthest tees

  • Four tee options
