After more than 70 years of good food, personable service, and entertaining events, Phil's Continental Lounge hasn't changed much. Though its core services remain the same, recent improvements have only made this traditional establishment better. By moving one block closer to the University of Richmond campus, employing a new executive chef, Michael Hayes, and starting to open for weekend brunch, Phil's Continental Lounge has refused to rest on its considerable laurels. The kitchen team prepares pimento cheese burgers, gyros, and N'awlins Po' Boy sandwiches with chicken bites, oysters, or shrimp, to name just a few of the bread-based menu options. The chef also cooks up a variety of entrees including bacon-wrapped scallops and honey-stung fried chicken.
In addition to the succulent food, themed events enliven the evenings. Karaoke induces whimsy on Thursday nights, and revolving drink specials fuel general revelry on weeknights. Plus, five HD TVs help the eatery remain an energetic destination to watch football, basketball, and people watching football and basketball.
