I would not recommend this restaurant unless you want to wait 2 hours to get your meal when the restaurant was very .empty. People came in after us and were served well before us. We were using a groupon and they weren't. actually had a conversation about it with the people sitting next to us because they had experienced the same level of poor service as us. I asked to speak with the manager and they said that there was no manager available, only servers were there at the time.

The prices are high for the portion given. The "ultimate experience" should only be $48 per couple..

The chef's tasting was amazing! The escargot, the seared cod with leek risotto ....... everything was perfect. I would recommend this lovely restaurant for anyone who loves adventurous and delightful Spanish cuisine.

Our table was reserved, and the people at the table decided to stay. The staff went out of their way to get us in as fast as possible.

I was disappointed with The Tasting Room for a few reasons but primarily their service. We stopped by during lunch after making reservations and the service was lacking from the start: we waited at the door and servers passed by, ignoring us. After waiting a while I had to get their attention to be shown to a table. From then on, service was slow and impersonal. The food was ok - enough bad to overshadow the good, not Spanish, not all menu items available, and lacked what we read in reviews. I am not sure if this was because we mentioned our Groupon, but automatic 20% gratuity for 2 people was definitely not earned.

From Our Editors

As they pass under the hanging gilded sign that's wrapped in climbing vines, visitors to The Tasting Room begin their journey into Florida's Spanish history. Upon entering, the sounds of live Spanish guitar fill the dining room, from its wrought-iron chandeliers and crimson walls to the heavy wooden tables and Spanish murals in vivid colors. Behind these rooms, wine racks displaying more than 1,000 international wines stretch from floor to ceiling, and Marseilles-born chef Matthieu Landillon runs his kitchen.

Under his direction, the culinary team draws inspiration from the surrounding sea, Spain's varied regions, and dreams where Pablo Picasso demands that they cook him a vibrant menu of small and large dishes. The team plates tapas to serve inside or on the patio—such as Florida Gulf red snapper in escabeche, basque chorizo, and goat-cheese terrine—and fashions larger entrees such as local seafood stew, churrasco-style flat-iron steak, and roasted butternut-squash risotto. The efforts of the chef, musicians, and sommeliers have earned The Tasting Room awards for Best Music, Best Wine List, and Best Upscale Dining in the Best of St. Augustine 2010 contest, as well as a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2012.
