Saw British band OMD at the State Theatre last week. A really nice traditional old venue with brilliant sound and balcony seating. The manager helped out with a ticket issue for me and the staff we’re all really pleasant. All in all created a brilliant vibe for a very memorable night. Thank you

First of all as others have said in their reviews, the acoustics of this venue are great. I saw Lords of Acid here and they sounded better here than any other venue I have seen them in. Also, people who work here seem to be generally friendly in that "rough around the edges nightclub" kinda way. Drinks are also affordable compared to similar venues. That being said, this place is a dive with almost no air conditioning. The interior is in very poor shape, dirty and desperately needs some paint and TLC. The AC issue is inexcusable in Florida. I don't think I have sweated that much or seen people pass out like that from heat at an indoor concert. According to people who go here regularly it's always like that. As someone who is not familiar with the area, parking was a nightmare as well. The venue recommends street parking which seemed impossible after circling for 45 minutes on a Friday night. Plus there was a ton of active ticketing going on, confusing parking rules signs, etc. I finally found an open parking garage (most were closed) over a half mile away. Keep that in mind and allow extra time on the weekends.

Reasonably priced drinks. Great sound system and good views for a concert. Bathrooms are clean and staff is friendly.

One of my favorite intimate spots to see international and national shows.Meet and greet is somewhat common. Ticket prices has jacked up a bit in the last few years, but that's everywhere. Highly recommended.

From Our Editors

The State Theatre New Jersey was saved, as its website states, from "the ravages of time." Built in 1921 as a vaudeville and silent-film palace, the venue fell on hard times in the 1970s. In 2003, however, a $3 million renovation restored the State Theatre New Jersey to much of its original glory, as crews painstakingly rehabbed the ornamental plaster, terracotta exterior, and actor holding cells. Inside the theater, a stunning chandelier sparkles more brightly than ever below the venue's signature dome.
