Family friendly, even child sized skates. It is a small rink so no one can get going really fast reducing my fear of plowing over my kids. Go in the afternoon or earlier in the day because it can get pretty busy in the evening.

It gets pretty crowded for such a small rink. Try to during the week or during the day if you want to avoid large groups of people.

We went on a Sunday at about 3pm and there was practically no one there. Free parking on the street and it was a blast even with our 3 kids, 6 and under. Although they don't have those 'walker' aides for little kids.

If you go with children, try to go earlier in the day. Less crowded and you won't have to worry about other people skating into you and the kids.

It is really fun at nighttime when they turn the lights on. It you go when it's warm, there is less people too. Skates are comfortable.

From Our Editors

The fully renovated Gallivan Plaza presents visitors with year-round entertainment opportunities, including cultural events, concerts, and festivals. Come wintertime, the plaza opens up its outdoor skating rink?a rink twice the size of its predecessor. There, skaters glide around throughout the holiday season and, during breaks from the ice, can fuel up with snacks such as hot chocolate and nachos from the rink?s concession stand.
