Set into a row of unassuming, polished storefronts is Groom the Salon. If it weren’t for the signage it would be easy to miss this no-nonsense shop, whose interior suggests a barbershop that’s grown up into a trendy, open space. Appointments are recommended but the staff will work hard to fit in last minute cuts and blowouts inside this comfy space, which features a cushy waiting area for customers to relax in before getting snipped. There are sodas, coffee and various teas to help ease the wait time – or beer and wine for the age-appropriate crowd looking to feel a little pampered. The owner Freddy Silva opened the salon more than a decade ago, and many of the stylists have been with him for years, which attest to an enjoyable team-working environment that extends into great service.
