Sara Rose has traveled the world picking up new baking secrets, but when she wanted to begin her own cupcake business, she knew her native San Diego was the perfect spot for a shop with local flair. Now, she and her team of Sprinkle Me! Desserts bakers turn local ingredients—as well as organic and sustainable when possible—into 3-D sculpted cakes, desserts with realistic fondant shapes, and cupcakes swirled with luscious gobs of icing. They draw from an arsenal of flavors that ranges from the classic carrot to the multifaceted “baple”—a maple-flavored, bacon-speckled concoction that’s sure to enliven any lumberjack’s sweet 16 birthday bash.
Sprinkle Me! Desserts’ team also caters to vegan, gluten-free, and low-carb diets, working with customers to create custom flavors. They also combine Callebaut chocolate, freshly cracked eggs, rolled oats, and pure butter into handmade cookies.
