Founded and owned by Lindsay Pomeroy, a wine educator certified advanced by the Wine & Spirits Education Trust, The Wine Smarties educates skilled vintners and aspiring novices alike with an array of classes and comprehensive tools. In the chocolate-making course, students will learn how to stimulate the taste buds and defuse explosive sweet teeth with velvety gourmet chocolates. Boutique chocolatier Michael Von Euw teaches his students how to create artistic truffles of their own using hands-on instruction and high-quality ingredients. Following your confectionary construction, a wine aficionado will dole out insightful advice as to what wines pair well with the truffles, and why white wine pairs best with chocolate chicken and red wine with chocolate beef. Classes meet on Fridays from 6:30–8:30, and themes change every month, with the first three being Valentine's Day, Easter, and Mother's Day; additional classes will be added upon demand.
