The de Young Museum displays a wide range of art works ranging from American paintings and furniture to indigenous works and New Guinea artifacts. The San Francisco views from its Tower are impressive. The cafeteria is pleasant but the offerings are expensive.

We arrived promptly at opening and spent most of the day in a state of rapture. The museum’s current special exhibit is of Indigenous American art. There were numerous large gallery rooms filled with beautiful objects and ceremonial regalia. Not to be outdone, the permanent African and Oceania exhibits and a varied selection of U.S. painters of the 29th century were also sensational. What a terrific museum!

I was very impressed with this museum which is located in Golden Gate Park. It had several different exhibits from different eras and cultures. It was also not big on modern art which I'm not a big fan of. It does have some though. It was also fairly priced, very clean and had a very nice-looking cafe. You could also spend just an hour here or 5 hours depending on what you want to see, and it's very well mapped out for you. Finally, I was able to park for free a few blocks away and I highly recommend.

We enjoyed our visit. The African collection was a surprise. The extensive collection of early American art was anticipated. We enjoyed the Native American displays including the contemporary works.
