This was a great experience! The crew were very enthusiastic, and open to any and all questions. We were lucky enough to see a group of humpback whales breaching - what a treat!

It was a wonderful experience!! Carol and Captain Joe where very enthusiastic and gave us lots of information. Both love what they do. We were not able to see any whales but no worries we will be back over and over until we do.

Awesome staff who were very knowledgable and wanted to make sure we saw whales so they kept looking and kept us out a bit longer to try to give us more chances. We did get to see blue whales and they even came closed to the boat to show off.

I liked how respectful the crew was of the whales, letting them approach us rather than bringing the boat too close to them

They were very knowledgeable about the species we saw. The accommodations were well prepared as well.

It was a fun trip. Initially I had thought that we would get a lot closer to the whales. They don't chase or hunt down whales, just travel beside them. We did get to see a few off in the distance. It was fun to travel under the Golden Gate and re-enter the bay on a boat, with vistas of the city of San Francisco. My only suggestion for them is to fix their sound system - very hard to hear with the motor running.

From Our Editors

Every day, millions of tons of snowmelt from high up in the Sierras rushes hundreds of miles downstream and pours into the San Francisco Bay. There, it slams into a surge of seawater to form an ecosystem at once constant and constantly changing. It?s there that the photographers and naturalists of SF Bay Whale Watching set out to observe and capture stunning images on daily adventures.

Onboard the stalwart Kitty Kat, captain Joe Nazar skippers wildlife-seeking tours that might spy migrating whales, local sea lions, or killer whales. The spacious deck and large-windowed cabin make beautiful views bountiful. While a naturalist lectures, the ship sails past such landmarks as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island.
