Total waste of money. Lines were ridiculously long and you got almost no food with the tickets. Also the bbq was average at best.

The lines were extremely long, the food vendors were very, very limited and the few vendors ran out of food. I stood in line for about 1 1/2 hour and then was told there was no food. It was extremely poorly organized.

The entry fee was expensive considering it didn't even come with tickets, you had to buy food/beer tickets once inside. Also, there were not enough food vendors so the lines were really long especially as it got later in the afternoon. For one food vendor, my husband waited in line for over an hour. Lastly, the protesters should have never been allowed in (this was a paid, private, and gated event) and as soon as they marched into the event, the event organizers should have requested that the cops remove them immediately. I asked a cop why they were not being escorted out and they told me that the event organizers had to make that request. The protesters were disruptive, obnoxious and an unwelcome part of the event to the patrons that paid (in my opinion too much money) to enjoy the event.

If your gonna have a bbq festival have BBQ from good places not a bar who doesn't even serve bbq at their place and just do it for fun, if so venture out and get some better bbq Also I know it's the first year but don't be sold out if the venue is half packed and nice portions on tastings except "the spot" most little taster in the world and not even special

The vendors were not ready for the crowd Inefficient and not enough people to serve guests Slow cooked meat means you have to start pretty early if the venue starts at noon Next time they should bring things to hold down napkins to keep the wind from blowing them away

From Our Editors

The best barbecue of the Bay gets the long overdue celebration it deserves at the annual SF BBQ and Craft Beer Festival. Hosted by the knowledgeable carnivores of Brisket Club LLC (who devised this festival, fittingly, over a plate of brisket), the slow-cooked Saturday serves up parade of meats, rubs, flavors, and sauces for savoring, plus a People's Choice Award, chosen by the sauce-caked voting fingers of happy BBQ fans. Local area restaurants provide the smoked delights, while bands provide a soundtrack as rich and tasty as the barbecue.
