For nearly 30 years, Susan G. Komen San Francisco Bay Area has endeavored tirelessly to provide funding for breast health services, breast cancer education, and outreach throughout the Bay Area community. Founded as the very first affiliate of Susan G. Komen by Joanne Horning and her husband Rick in honor of Joanne’s mother’s battle against breast cancer, the affiliate uses up to 75 percent of their net income to help fund grants to local hospitals, clinics, and community organizations. The remaining net income supports the national Komen Grants Program, which works to increase early detection, survival rates, and federal funding of groundbreaking breast-cancer research.
This work is possible thanks to the thousands of people who participate in the Komen San Francisco Race for the Cure and other affiliate events each year, as well as dedicated corporate partners and generous donors.
