Five Things to Know About The Corner Store

This aptly named restaurant really does serve a little bit of everything, from hangover-friendly brunch dishes and coffee to fresh California halibut and craft cocktails. Read on to learn more about this eclectic spot in Inner Richmond:

  • Brunch is a fan favorite. Buttermilk pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and eggs benedict bring diners in. Bottomless mimosas keep them in their seats.
  • Most of the dinner entrees originated in California. The Corner Store Burger is made with Niman Ranch beef, and the oven-roasted chicken is raised in Sonoma County.
  • Some of the drinks are locally sourced, too. Sip on the Bay’s own Mr. Espresso coffee or order a hometown brew from the likes of Anchor Steam or Speakeasy Ales & Lagers.
  • The Burger & Shake special is extra-special. Order this combo and you’ll receive the house burger and a boozy milk shake, such as the Manhattan Shake with bourbon, sweet vermouth, cherry syrup, and vanilla ice cream.
  • Some of the old-fashioned sodas are made in-house. Try the cucumber, blueberry-ginger, or grapefruit varieties.

San Francisco Restaurant Guide

San Francisco takes pride in its foodie culture, offering some of the freshest and finest dining in the country. Options are limitless, here. From tuna tartare in Nob Hill to giant burritos in the Mission, this city has no problem serving up tasty world-class fare from practically any cuisine imaginable. Of particular note, is the prevalance of talented local chefs who offer food choices that are constantly evolving the way people think about this city's unique food scene.

Chef Craig Stoll is passionate about Italian food, and his passion becomes clear at Delfina. This Mission restaurant recently entered its tenth year of service, and customers keep coming back for Stoll's twist on traditional dishes. Stoll combines classic dishes with a local twist, creating imaginative dishes like buttermilk panna cotta and an olive and bean salad featuring freshly roasted calamari on top.

Owner and chef Dennis Leary is the driving force behind Canteen, a restaurant devoted to casual California cuisine. The prix-fixe dinner offered twice a week gives diners the chance to sample some of the best dishes on the menu, but a la carte options are also available several days a week. The fixed-price menu changes every month depending on what Leary finds appetizing. Past dishes have included yellowtail with a potato crust and a salad featuring spice-crusted lamb.

Dining in San Francisco has never looked or tasted as good as it does at Range. This Valencia Street staple was the brainchild of Phil West, who brings his New American style to every dish on the menu. West believes in creating classic comfort food with an unexpected twist. The split pea soup with chives sprinkled over the top and a dollop of sour cream is almost as delicious as the pork dish served with greens and hominy.

With its old-school diner feel, Swan Oyster Depot packs in diners every night of the week. Every meal comes with a free show, courtesy of the chefs tossing food around and cooking dishes just a few inches from diners. This small oyster bar serves fresh seafood the way people want: fast, simple and delicious. The long line out the door shows why this is one of the top San Francisco restaurants.

Classic dishes, eclectic options and new chefs constantly change the landscape of the San Francisco food scene. These restaurants make eating out a special and exciting adventure.
