Had to wait for a bit to get our gear, but that was the only down side, the location is great, the people are friendly and it’s not crowded. We had a great time!

It was small, water looked dirty, cabanas were pretty shabby, and when the wind blew the wrong way it didn't smell that great. There did seem to be a couple others having a good time though. I wouldn't go back but for $45 I can see why some would, but the $195 "original price" you would have to be out of your mind to pay.

Management was nice but this place is dirty and not maintained. You are better off finding a fishing/swimming spot on city property. Don't go expecting a lot

First of all don't bother with a reservation. They mean nothing. We had one, showed up on time, and had to wait an hour for kayaks to come back in. Second, although the people were nice, there is usually only one of them manning the place. While we were waiting for kayaks to come in the guy running the place left because he had to go pick up people from another location. While he was gone two separate families showed up and had to wait at least 30 minutes for the guy to return. Finally half the equipment is in bad shape. One of the kayaks we were given had a small hole in the front - which we weren't told about. We found it after about an hour when my 29 year old son - who does construction work and is in great shape - could barely paddle the kayak anymore because it was so heavy with water. We had to beach and drain the thing about every 30 minutes after that. The San Marcos river is nice, but go elsewhere if you want to rent a kayak.

Loved paddle boarding on the river. The company needs A LOT more staff for support. All in all I had a great time

They overbook, the picture on Groupon is false advertising, the "floating dock" was under water and this was before Hurricane Harvey. No organization, people all over the place. We paid for a private cabana and all we got was a table with a wooden frame around the area and a big tree blocking our view.

Don't let this picture deceive you, This is on a jungle like river. When we first arrived, there was no one around to help us for 15 minutes. The place is a mud hole. Nothing is organized. The boards and kayaks are dirty. There's trash laying around. The water is dirty. There were 2 transients bathing in the water. There's hardly anywhere to paddle to. Beware, you get what you pay for!!!

Q&A with Ben Kvanli, Founder and Teacher

What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
We lead the youngest ever kayaker to run the Grand Canyon. 9-year-old Brett Venable set the record in 1992 by running all of the rapids except Lava in his kayak.

What is the one feature of your business that you're most proud of?
Pioneering adventure therapy for wounded war Veterans has shown the therapeutic effects of the water. Seeing these heroes not only get out of the hospital, but get back to living life to the fullest makes all of our efforts worth it.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
Joining our club makes paddling less expensive, less work, and more fun than renting or buying your own boat. In addition, you will get personal attention from caring pioneers of paddling, and be proud of ... your own accomplishments in the sport. You will [be] a part of a club [that] fosters community participation from wounded war Veterans, everyone in the family, beginners, [and] Olympians.
