From Our Editors
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
We are carrying on the 45-year tradition of making the best falafels in the Santa Cruz area. We introduced falafel in a quick-serve style in Santa Cruz in 1978 after the owner's parents had introduced it in San Jose in 1971.
What is one of your most popular offerings? How is it prepared?
The falafel, like our hummus, is made from scratch with dry garbanzo beans, fresh vegetables, and the tahini sauce is also housemade as the rest of our menu. The chili sauce for the falafel is made from fresh jalapenos, extra virgin olive oil, and a pinch of sea salt.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
My husband and I moved back to Santa Cruz last year after many years of being away and realized that there was not enough good mediterranean food in Santa Cruz. We knew we could add to the variety of culinary offerings in the great coastal town of Santa Cruz.
What do you love most about your job?
We love to meet and greet our new customers and sometimes we have our old customers from the 1970s and 1980s come in and introduce themselves.
