A day trip to Santa Cruz doesn't just mean boardwalks and seagulls. For the past century, The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History has collected artifacts from the area's human and animal communities, providing a deep understanding of the beautiful region. Guests get up close and personal with wildlife at exhibits such as the Touch Pool, where kids and adults can handle real starfish or divulge their darkest secrets into a seashell. There's also an exhibit covering the pre-Mission Ohlone people. Guests can crush acorns—a staple food for the group—in an authentic mortar and pestle.
