During the Special Z Games, athletes face a relentless slew of challenges both physically and psychologically draining: a 5K course drowning in mud, a dozen manmade obstacles, and oh yeah—a horde of nearly 250 zombies.
The run is designed to be a fun event for all participants, but it also serves a greater purpose. The Special Z Games were founded to raise money and awareness for adults and children with special needs, particularly for scholarships and putting programs in place with public-school systems. In that spirit, the race isn't overly competitive—runners should feel free to work through it at their own pace, or tag in their cheetah spirit animal to complete the course in record time.
