I have been attending films, exhibits, and various other worthwhile activities at the Center for Contemporary Arts since I relocated to Santa Fe in the early 1990’s. The offerings are well-chosen and memorable led by the expert cinemateque director, Jason Silverman. He definitely ”knows his stuff.” In all my years attending films there, there were truly only two that I felt like I wish I hadn’t stayed until credits rolled. Certainly not a waste of time, though I didn’t really need to stay. Just my opinion. I am one of those people that stays to read all the names of the many artists that put all the hard work into what I just enjoyed, and appreciated. The vast majority of the CCA staff is interesting, kind and knowlegable. Many have been employed there for ages. Quite nice to see them as often as I show up. Several travel to other locales to assist in annual film festivals around the country and world. Jealous, me. I would wholeheartedly recommend patronizing this Santa Fe gem, as well as it’s ‘sister screen,’ called THE SCREEN, on the midtown campus on Saint Michael’s Drive. Think, College of Santa Fe, and more recently, the now defunct Santa Fe University of Art and Design. There’s nothing like the experience of watching a film on a big screen, versus avenues like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon prime video. All of which I am guilty of also “patronizing.“ DON’T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE POPPED CORN OFFERINGS AT BOTH LOCATIONS! 😐 Enjoy your experiences at these two venues. Perhaps, I’ll see you there. From Our Editors

A cinematheque, gallery, and educational center all in one, the Center for Contemporary Arts champions a diverse range of art forms, from digital media and performance art to independent and animated films, as well as Oscar-nominated documentaries. Culled from various artistic backgrounds, the art center's staff gained experience in various aesthetics by studying fine art, producing films for Sundance, and trying to calm down the guy from Edvard Munch's The Scream. Using their acquired knowledge, staff members educate guests during art exhibitions, movie screenings, and lectures.
