The shop was silent when we walked in. After about 15 minutes I finally asked for music, and the girl responded "yes, I just haven't gotten to that yet." There was a couple that had been sitting in there nearly done with their tasting and they sat in silence the whole time... Maybe they liked that.. I don't know.
I had purchased the groupon for 4, but only three of us were able to go. I asked if we were able to use the fourth seating for an extra pour each so we all could try each of the wines on our own, they refused. I asked for one glass of wine to compensate for the fourth seating, they refused. I lost the cost of the 4th seating. Had I known that I would have tried harder or waited for another day when a 4th person could come.
The girl pouring the wine was not educated on any of the wines she was serving. When we asked about the origin of a specific wine she had to go to the computer to print off the information about it, which she read to us incorrectly. She was kind in demeanor, but not dressed for what I would expect to be representing the establishment, wearing an oversized white T shirt, and tattered jeans.
The Refreshments wine were all very good in flavor, but it stopped there. The lot of the Whites and Reds were all bottom shelf standard, at best. The Malbec tasted as if it had been open for several days, with a strong vinegar taste. I asked when the bottle had been opened, and she stated "I just opened it today.." Ok. I guess they just add vinegar to their Malbec..
I would not recommend this place. While the potential is definitely there, the concept and decor are the only reason we did not leave half way through the tasting.
Upon out departure my mother used the woman's restroom and found it filthy and unkept. The mirror was spotted, the toilet was forming a mold ring, and the trash can was overflowing. No. No. No. We will not be returning.
