At Five Fish Bistro, two separate menus tempt diners with flavors plucked from the ocean’s forbidding depths. One changes daily, but maintains a rotation of five fresh fish that fluctuate depending on seasonal availability and sustainable practices. The extended menu floats along on a New-Orleans-influenced undercurrent, extinguishing hunger with beignets and po’ boys stuffed with catfish or fried oysters. Dietary concerns don’t interfere with the feast; upon request, diners can order their fish ‘n’ chips with gluten-free batter and their sandwiches on gluten-free bread.
At the bar, a succinct selection of beer arranges standards such as PBR and Tecate alonside local craft brews from Mac & Jack’s and Georgetown Brewing. Bartenders also siphon sparkling rose and wine from taps, reducing their dependence on glass bottles and the likelihood that they’ll get a worker’s-comp claim from an injured corkscrew.
