Die Bierstube is Seattle native Chris Navarra’s second local beer hall, a German pub that harkens back to the old country with its red-painted walls, wood paneling and the consistent stream of creamy-topped pints that emerge from the bar’s eleven taps. Of course, most of the suds are Germanic in nature, owing to the general theme of the place, and the all-important glass boot is even available for drinking, should the need arise. The small pub encourages table-sharing and socializing, and to soak up all the beer it sells hearty snacks and meals from a decidedly wintry menu: Oven-baked pretzels with German mustard, cucumber or beet salad and rye sandwiches featuring smoked pork or sausages, adorned with sauerkraut of course. Those not feeling like a beer can grab a glass of wine or, better yet, a German cocktail – perhaps a Honig Dropf, with Barenjager honey liqueur, vodka and Triple Sec.
