Followed by his beagle buddy, a golden retriever clambers down a ramp and into an 11’x18’ heated pool, then swims away with a rope toy in his mouth as the beagle chases after him, barking all the way. It’s open swim at SpawZ Dog, where canines splash under the careful supervision of the doggy daycare’s licensed practitioners. Private pool-therapy sessions provide low-impact workouts that build strength and range of motion, benefiting dogs with arthritis, sore joints, and hip dysplasia. Elderly dogs enjoy “senior swim,” where they can paddle gently without contending with young pups cannonballing, while water-phobic dogs can stay secure by walking on an underwater treadmill.
Dogs signed up for daycare and boarding romp around a 3,750-square-foot indoor area, padded with half-inch-thick rubber non-slip safety flooring that’s easy on canine joints. An outdoor area provides space for dogs to duck into clubhouses or reenact scenes from Turner and Hooch in a toy car. Smaller pups can retreat to their own exclusive space, outfitted with a car-shaped bed and padded seating. At night, dogs bunk down in private areas with soft bedding, surroun
