On Saturday nights, LACCD's Van De Camp College Campus is hurled through a time warp, transporting visitors to the old-school Electric Dusk Drive-In theater. There, they won't find the same five films that Hollywood insists on rebooting, but instead, classics from years gone by such as Sixteen Candles and Pulp Fiction. The cult favorites draw in diverse crowds to share nostalgia and make new memories.
The field is set up in two parts: one for viewers to watch from the comfort of their own cars, and an astroturf lawn where movie-goers can set up picnic-style to enjoy the silver screen under the stars. There's also a Snack Shack on-hand, serving up traditional movie-theater fare like popcorn, candy, and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.
