Our tour guide was excellent. The stories were good. Before I bought the tickets I called the tour company directly and asked if an older person with mild walking issues be able to do it. I was assured the walk was doable. Considering that this a mine it was doable. But the STAIRS!!! Perhaps 40 to 60 steps going down but we also exited UP those STAIRS. If breathing or STAIRS are an issue this tour is not for them.

We paid for the tour in MN before going to our visit in Tucson, AZ. We spoke to someone at the Good Enough Mine Tour on a Saturday, thinking we might be coming the next day. However, that didn't work, but they did say they were open every day, and we did not need a reservation. We made the trip (about 70 miles away) on Monday, but when we got to Tombstone and called them for specific directions to their Mine, they stuttered and said their mine had flooded because of a rain storm. We told them we were in the town now and that it wasn't raining. They were surprised sounding but then said it had flooded earlier. No other business in the town spoke of such matter. At any rate, we weren't able to go. I did not believe their claim by the way they acted. I would not recommend going there.

From Our Editors

When the guides and staff at Good Enough Mine Tour opened their 1879 Tombstone silver mine to the public, their achievement was more than a year in the making. They had worked tirelessly, blasting compressed air and water to clear blocked passageways, cutting through solid rock, and mixing concrete that they'd carried into the mine on their backs. Once they finished clearing the tunnels, they built stairs and railings and installed lights. Finally, guides began leading tours through the mine's original passageways.

Today, Good Enough Mine Tour's guides escort visitors as far as 100 feet underground into the mine's 19th-century depths, where they divulge the history and uses of 130-year-old structures and artifacts such as strap-rail, lanterns, and dynamite fuses. They sometimes lead visitors through narrow passageways and into stopes––large chambers created by ore removal––or up ladders and into the living rooms of friendly mole people.
