Woodbury is very small, two lifts, a moving carpet and a line. It is NOT for any sort of average and better skiers. It IS a very nice little mountain for beginners. The equipment is old, but you really don't need much on this hill. My beginner snowboarders had a great time. This years snow was awful so only about 50% was open. I can see it getting crowded if the snow is good, but that is the same anywhere you go. Close (Danbury) and easy for beginners are my highlights.

This past winter was barely a winter season, they ran out of snow early and would not honor the groupon deal for the summer tubing option. Was told I would get a call back and no one called. Their customer service is horrible.

I used my groupin last friday. The experience was fair. The lesson was slightly helpful for my first time skiers. The gentleman giving the lesson was rude and not child friendly at all. The slopes were moderately cared for. The snack bar was extensive and the help behind the counter was great. Unfortunately, we ended our night with my son skiing into a house. Thankfully, he just had somd bruised ribs. My issue with this is that the property is not properly cared for and proper provisions shld hav been provided on the slope to protect the skiers. Maybe some netting or blockage from him smashing directly into the house at the bottom of the hill. My husband purchased the same groupon, in hopes to do another visit to Woodbury. However, i would like him to be reimbursed for this groupon, as I do not believe this is a safe place to ski

It was a good time but the workers were VERY safety conscious.. We felt to an extreme though. Would get talked to if we weren't dragging our feet down the hill while tubing...that was a requirement. My husband went two years ago and said it was more fun because there weren't as many rules then. I do like that they require helmets for kids 10 and under.

Very small and since so warm, few trails open. Great for beginners, not so much for intermediate and advanced.

From Our Editors

In the past 40 years, the Southern Litchfield Hills of northwestern Connecticut have seldom stood without an echo of laughter or music. That's because Woodbury Ski Area keeps them pulsing with skiers and snowboarders during winter months and warm-weather revelers and concertgoers throughout the summer. Tubing slides run down the hills throughout the summer, along with zorb balls—inflatable spheres that carry passengers to the bottom in 45 seconds.

Woodbury Ski Area's president Rod Taylor, who competed as a member of the U.S. Ski Team, maintains the facility with the same drive he used to become the national downhill ski champion and record holder for clearing 222 feet in the Glendale Jump contest. While helping to keep adrenaline levels high, Rod ensures the facility hosts more laid-back cultural events with concerts on the Woodbury stage. Past shows have featured legends including The Wailers, Fela Kuti, and UB40, as well as Muddy Waters, The Band, Bonnie Raitt, and Earl Scruggs.
