Located within Hickey Karate Center, both Red Door Yoga and Martial Fight and Fitness programs emphasize full-body fitness through centuries-old practices. During either class type, small groups of about 10 people meet for lessons on basic technique that aim to challenge physical fitness and minds. During yoga classes, an instructor trained in the YogaFit technique leads students through a series of traditional poses designed to tone muscles, reenact childhood Twister parties, and improve flexibility. Martial Fight and Fitness classes combine martial arts self-defense techniques and kickboxing-style movements into a strength and conditioning workout that highlights form without physical contact. Because of the traditional curriculum, students who take these classes may find it easier to later transition into a martial arts program. Yoga classes run in the evenings on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, and martial arts classes take place on Monday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
