my toddler enjoyed himself in the dig pit. However, the staff was setting up for a wedding so it took away from the experience because tables were everywhere.

very small place. A lot of the amphibian enclosures were empty. the Dino dig pit was a waste of money. a few other things that would have been cool were broken. just not worth the trip from Fort Polk Louisiana

My 4 year old loves this museum. Her favorite part is the dinosaur dig pit. Very clean and enjoyable. The staff is great and I would highly recommend this museum.

Cool place to go. People that worked there were nice.Easy parking. Not to many people were there so it was easy to see everything with no problem. Our kids loved it. My son(5yr old) loves anything to do with dinosaurs. This place was the perfect place for him to understand how large dinosaurs really were. We will be going again.

The HMNS is a pretty awesome place. I took my 4 and 5 year old. There's so much to do an so much to see. The downside is there is absolutely no organization to the chaos that ensues when hundreds of children and strollers and car seats are trying to maneuver up,down, and around floors, stairs, elevators, and exhibits. If you go make sure it is very early or very late as there is literally no way to enjoy what this place has to offer.

From Our Editors

Seven days a week, the Houston Museum of Natural Science cultivates knowledge with interactive exhibits that shuttle minds into such far-flung realms as tropical rainforests and outer space. Permanent exhibit halls house everything from the skeletons of brachiosauruses in the recently expanded Morian Hall of Paleontology to artifacts from ancient Egypt and the Americas.

Housed inside three stories of glass, the museum's Cockrell Butterfly Center habitat teems with more than 1,500 winged wonders from around the globe, which frolic around a 50-foot waterfall, and flutter through exotic plants. Visitors can also gaze skyward in the Burke Baker Planetarium, which casts more than 10 daily shows with curve-mirror projection technology. Eyes marvel at the planetarium's 30'x18' full-dome digital theater, capable of transporting families to the aurora borealis in the Arctic Circle or to the nougat-flavored center of a black hole.
