In general, I was pleased with the actual SERVICES I received, and granted I went in as a "Groupon customer", so I wasn't surprised or upset to hear that I would incur additional charges not covered by my Groupon (it covered shampoo, cut, and style plus full highlights). I was told that because my hair had been previously highlighted (actually low-lighted), I would need a "color-stripping" service before I could get my hightlights. Okay, fair enough, even though I'd never been told this before when getting the same services at other salons. I was fine with that, and I was OK when they said it would be an extra $15 charge for long hair (I've encountered that before and it's not that unusual). So, I knew that I would be in for an extra... $65 or so from the start, and I was comfortable with that number (and otherwise I couldn't get the services I came in for anyway). The stylist was professional and I was happy with what she did. Also, the salon was very nice, and I enjoyed the fact that I was the only client at the time (very peaceful). I was dismayed, however, when I checked out and was charged not the $15 fee for long hair I was told of previously, but an extra $15 per inch (which in all the salons I've been too, I've never encountered before. $15 PER INCH beyond what their cutoff, measured from the scalp. I ABSOLUTELY would have remembered someone informing me of being charged by THE INCH. I only was told of a $15 charge for long hair, which I thought reasonable.) Before that incident, I actually thought I might go back to this salon for future services. However, any salon that charges $15 per inch just because I have long hair (yes, it's long, but not crazy-waist length long or anything) is no place I would patronize. It seems like a ridiculous standard, and the bottom line was... my supposedly great Groupon deal ended up costing as much or more than what I would pay in any upscale salon. Plus I felt deceived. Very disappointing, I'm sorry to say, because the salon is very conveniently located for me, and the stylist was polite and professional.
