Cable Nature Lodge sits on 22 acres of scenic property surrounded by the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in northwestern Wisconsin. Greeted by the lodge's black lab Arwen, inside you'll find a stone fireplace, wood-laminate floors, and vaulted ceilings. Each of the seven guest rooms comes with satellite TV, a refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, and complimentary WiFi. On the main floor of the lodge, you can grab a bite to eat at Rookery Pub Fine Dining. The restaurant, rated the area's top restaurant by TripAdvisor, has chefs prepare unique upscale American cuisine such as herb-crusted bison tenderloin and pan-seared pheasant.
In the colder months, visitors take to groomed trails just outside the lodge to go cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing. Lodge owner Bill Brakken, a long-time resident of the area, can recommend a variety of activities and point out which squirrels are cantankerous.
